[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Casal Novo Village is probably the smallest of the 5 Schist Villages in Lousã county after Talasnal, Chiqueiro, Candal, and Cerdeira.

When passing the tar road almost unnoticed, were it not for the huge yellow metallic plate that draws the attention of the most distracted.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”6932″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]“Plunged into a dense patch of forest slides down the slope. Also, slide to the threshing floor and enjoy the view over Lousã and its castle” says the inscription on the huge yellow plate that ends up translating this Casal Novo Village.

A staircase crosses the village with a steep slope, from South to North, where the surrounding vegetation does not allow us to clearly understand its boundaries.

Although it is easy to identify recovered dwellings, the only people I met were a group of young foreign tourists who rested there on the village threshing floor, facing Lousã.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”6933″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_single_image image=”6934″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_single_image image=”6935″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Some perpendiculars tear up the continuity of the dwellings and give rise to dark alleys of vegetation that hides from the sun.

And even without inhabitants, it is a treasure hidden in the Serra da Lousã, which, down the mountain, seems to want to take us to the other side of the valley where the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Pity is located.

It is said that its uniqueness and the authenticity of its ancient inhabitants, customs and traditions, have led this village to join the Network of Schist Villages.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”6924″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_single_image image=”6925″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_single_image image=”6926″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Apart from the fountain and tank of the village, you can and should visit the Miradouro da Eira from where you can observe Lousã and its Castle. This was a place of agricultural work, but also of coexistence between inhabitants.

Like the other villages in the municipality of Lousã, the Village of Casal Novo is also included in the Site of Community Importance Serra da Lousã – Natura 2000 Network.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”6995″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_single_image image=”6927″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_single_image image=”6928″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_single_image image=”6929″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_single_image image=”6930″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][templatera id=”8959″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
